About: Michels Corporation has been an innovative leader for new technologies for more than five decades. We proudly maintain the high standards that have allowed us to grow from a small pipeline construction company into an international leader in utility and infrastructure construction solutions. Michels uses its collective strength to offer construction, engineering and procurement services to keep pace with the growing demand in the energy, transportation, telecommunications and utility construction industries. We currently maintain more than two dozen permanent facilities from coast to coast in the United States as well as one in Canada. We also establish many temporary facilities to support our operations.

Over the past 54 years we now have over 6,000 hardworking dedicated employees that provide for 14 Divisions Company wide. All over the United States and in Canada we have several yards that host over 9,000 pieces of machinery that allow us to tackle any job that comes our way.

As Michels continues to grow, we are becoming even more innovative and continue to look for new ways to improve our efficiency throughout our business. Our Sustainable Michels Program was implemented in 2009 by a group of highly trained and passionate Michels employees. The Sustainable Michels Group set out to make changes that ultimately create a healthier, safer and more successful corporation overall. The Sustainable Michels Group tracks environmental impacts, develop innovative solutions, participate in community activities and engage all of our stakeholders.

Quarry Quest is one of the many community activities in which Michels participates. Michels is one of the three main sponsors of the event, which allows families to spend a day in a working quarry. All proceeds from the event benefit area charities for children.

In 2013 we, were accepted into the Green Masters Program. This is a prestigious program that measures businesses’ sustainability efforts by analyzing both internal and external operations. We were ranked as a Green Professional and are working diligently this year to become a Green Master in 2014.

In 2013 we have applied for a variety of Wisconsin Clean Diesel Grants to repower our Tier 0 and Tier 1 engines and replace them with Tier 3 and Tier 4 engines.

Company Future

Due to our increasing fleet we are motivated and grateful for Wisconsin Clean Cities as we continue looking for new ways to improve efficiency such as routes and alternative fuels. We struggle to transition from our diesel and gasoline combustible machines to any alternative fuel source, due to limited filling stations along our inconsistent routes. As alternative fuel filling stations become more abundant we look forward to making big changes in our fleet. We have been a leader in the utility construction business for generations, and are committed to staying healthy and resilient for many more to come.
