Nestled in the Wild and Scenic St. Croix River Valley, Polk County is home to over 400 lakes, numerous trout streams, the St Croix National Scenic River way two state parks, two state trails for biking and hiking.  The area is a launching point for the Ice Age National Scenic trail  and is a true “gift of the glaciers!” Less than an hour from St. Paul and Minneapolis Polk County is an easy drive to beautiful countryside where you will find many outdoor recreation areas and activities.

Polk County’s Parks & Forestry, Buildings, and Solid Waste department fleet is currently composed of 28 vehicles that are fueled by petroleum. The fleet includes 19 on-road light-duty (LD) vehicles (e.g. pickups, SUVs, vans), 7 on-road heavy-duty (HD) vehicles and 3 off-road pieces of equipment. Polk County’s Highway department fleet is currently composed of 95 vehicles that are fueled by petroleum. The fleet includes 76 on-road vehicles, 4 heavy-duty vehicles, and 13 off-road pieces of equipment

The WSF program will help Polk County reduce their carbon footprint, give them planning tools that help them meet their goals, and present options that are available to them for fleet management to leave Wisconsin a better place.
